11+ learning Programme

The 11+ learning Programme includes:

Familiarisation with the format & structure of the 11+ tests – mainly focussing on the CSSE for the local Grammar Schools but we can also work with your child towards the CEM (Durham) test for Chelmsford Girls’ Grammar
Time Management hints, ideas and practice
An introduction to the key skills and concepts covered in the tests
Practice in real questions from past papers and related problems through a range of unique and original packages, some of which include FREE material from my published books.
Aspects of Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, particularly as it relates to the different tests.
Writing practice and hints, particularly focussing on the genres of descriptive writing and Instructional Writing used in the CSSE exams so far; but also introducing other short writing genres.
Punctuation and grammar with a view to the English paper.
Two mock examinations each year in a realistic setting. These come with full and detailed feedback and further practice questions which will be emailed to you within a week of the exam. The papers will then be returned at your next lesson.

Equipment Needed

All children will need to provide their own pens, pencils and basic stationery.

They will also need a notebook that they will enjoy writing in, rather than a basic exercise book.

I will provide the majority of the materials, although I reserve the right to recommend books and other materials at various stages in the course.

Fees

Fees are payable per half term in advance. You will be invoiced for these at the start of each half term and can choose how you wish to pay this – directly to my bank account, by cash or by cheque.

I require half a term’s notice if you wish your child to stop attending sessions.

1 to 1 sessions - £35 an hour

Fees for small group sessions
2 children - £25 an hour each
3 children - £20 an hour each
4 children - £15 an hour each

Cancellation/Absence

If you are unable to make a particular session, please notify me at your earliest convenience. Less than 24 hours’ notice means that you will forfeit that week’s fee; less than 48 hours’ notice means you forfeit 50% of that weeks fees, credited from next Invoice. If you have given me more than 48 hours’ notice, where possible, I will try to rearrange your session.

Children with lessons on Saturdays will be offered alternative sessions following the day of the June mock exam, usually on the Sunday.
